Product Description Amazon.com Review What would you do if you were told you only had 24 hours before an asteroid obliterated the planet? The teens at Time Zone High are struggling with that very question (along with figuring out who's sleeping with whom and whether or not to attend physics class). Is the asteroid real? Is it a government cover-up or an Internet hoax? And by the way what are the Laws of Virginity? Allegra "Legs" Hanover--usually prepared for anything--is thrown into a tailspin by this potential catastrophe. Only minimally less disorienting is the discovery that her "platonic boyfriend" Derman may have slept with her sexy friend Angie. But as Legs has always thought "high school is potty training for life" so she tries to make important decisions in the face of disaster--such as whether or not she should make a play for rebellious surfer dude Andros Bliss the strangely attractive "Totally Inappropriate Guy." Todd Strasser author of How I Changed My Life and Girl Gives Birth to Own Prom Date (both also set at Time Zone High) once again proves his mastery at funny fast-paced fascinating writing. Teens will love this wild ride and will find themselves laughing in the face of the end of the world. (Ages 12 to 16) --Brangien Davis From Booklist As if the Time Zone High kids don't have enough angst in their edgy West Coast^-hip adolescence--now rumor (spurred on by the Internet) has it that a giant asteroid is heading for Earth. Life as we know it is heading for a standstill as everyone ponders how to deal with the end. Even imperturbable superbrain Allegra "Legs" Hanover is caught off guard in her well-planned life when the crisis throws her together with handsome maverick surfer classmate Andros Bliss. Legs has always viewed high school as "potty training" for life and has never wanted any serious romances to distract her from her ambitions just yet. The attentions of poor Derman who professes his unrequited love for her regularly have been sufficient to keep Legs comfortable in the social arena. When Derman defects to Legs' best friend the jilted wonder woman is driven straight to the divine Andros. Strasser's quick-witted dialogue keeps the pace moving and the plot interesting in what would otherwise be an inane romance. Readers won't believe Andros and Legs as a couple but the big night and the surf boarding are a lot of fun. Girl Gives Birth to Own Prom Date (1996.) is another Time Zone High story. Anne O'Malley
