Product Description About the Author ERIC ARTHUR BLAIR (19031950) better known by his pen name George Orwell was an English author and journalist whose best-known works include the dystopian novel 1984 and the satirical novella Animal Farm. He is consistently ranked among the best English writers of the 20th century and his writing has had a huge lasting influence on contemporary culture. Several of his coined words have since entered the English language and the word "Orwellian" is now used to describe totalitarian or authoritarian social practices. Frederick Davidson (1932-2005) also known as David Case was one of the most prolific readers in the audiobook industry recording more than eight hundred audiobooks in his lifetime including over two hundred for Blackstone Audio. Born in London he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and performed for many years in radio plays for the British Broadcasting Company before coming to America in 1976. He received AudioFile's Golden Voice Award and numerous Earphones Awards and was nominated for a Grammy for his readings.
